Abstract

Jawi texts constitute a valuable intellectual heritage passed down to the present generation from earlier scholars. Through the production of Jawi works across various disciplines, knowledge of Islam was widely disseminated throughout the Malay Archipelago (Nusantara). Within this framework, this article provides a detailed analysis of the methodology of book writing and hadith presentation in Bisharah al-ʿĀmilīn wa Naẓarāt al-Ghāfilīn, authored by Shaykh Ahmad al-Fatani. The discussion on the book’s writing methodology includes its systematic organization, the method of chapter arrangement (tabwīb), content and subject matter, argumentative techniques, citation style, and linguistic features. Meanwhile, the analysis of hadith writing encompasses the presentation of the hadith text (matan), the chain of transmission (sanad), translation of the hadith, its classification or status, sources of evidence, and references cited for the hadith.
